I’ve always said locs are a journey that teach you many lessons, and if nothing else they teach you patience. You have to embrace patience to enjoy each stage of the hair loc’ing process. There are major changes as your baby/starter locs mature into the teenage stage and then adulthood, along with all the transitional phases in-between. One of the most commonly known phases is the awkward phase, a.k.a the ugly phase.

The awkward phase is thought to be the right of passage into having locs but also the phase that most people don’t want to go through. I am currently there with my new set of locs. I remember going through the awkward phase with my Sisterlocks and honestly it was kind of tough.
