Why I Brush My Locs

Hi, my name is Jocelyn and I brush my locs because I am allergic to lint!

Yes, the lint that you may find on your sweater or between your toes causes me all sorts of problems. Specifically, if lint gets into my locs, I really freak out. Screaming, convulsions, and delirium are my typical symptoms. And yet, I live in a region where the winter season always seems to bring all of the lint. And to make matters worst, all of the fuzzy hats, cozy sweaters, and house robes (read: lint makers) feel so good. Which means, I am always on high alert to prevent an allergic reaction from happening. So, in my defense, I keep an arsenal of loc brushes on standby.

Unfortunately, in my recent YouTube video, I share what happened during a major allergic reaction after wearing a new sweater.

Reasons Why I Brush My Locs

In this video, I share with you how quickly lint can accumulate in your locs and start causing buildup, which is the main reason why I brush my locs. Loc Brushing, when done properly, can save locs from lint, help moisturize the hair, and (believe it or not) reduce frizz. Although, I shared a tutorial about Loc Brushing many years ago; I feel like it is time for an updated video (coming soon). In the meantime, if you have questions about Loc Brushing after seeing my allergic reaction to the lint in my locs, check out this quick Frequently Asked Questions about Loc Brushing video that I shared on YouTube:

Yes! I brush my locs. I started about 3 years into my now 6 year loc journey. For me my locs feel softer and look glossier (?) after brushing.
