Often times, when you want to achieve really tight spiral curls, on locs you reach for Pipe Cleaners— yes, the cheap pipe cleaners you use for arts & crafts. The process of transforming pipe cleaners into rollers, (only to be used one time) and then the painstaking process of removing them from my locs was enough for me not to attempt this that style often— despite the beautiful spiral curls it creates. While at the Ubiquitous Hair Show I discovered the Wrap-A-Loc Curling tool and my life has been forever changed.
What is the Wrap-A-Loc Tool?
The Wrap-A-Loc tool is flexible styling tool that creates a dual-hairstyle and is intended for locs and textured hair to achieve tight spiral curls. The resulting curls and size of the roller are very similar to pipe cleaner curls, but the benefit is that the Wrap-A-Loc tool is designed for hair— it is reusable, it doesn’t snag the hairs, and it is very pliable which is good for all hair types. Basically, everything you love about Pipe Cleaners transformed into a tool specifically for hair and delivering great results— so I’m totally in love with it! You can see the curls in action in my latest video “WRAP A LOC CURLS | STYLE REVIEW“.
Pros & Cons of the Wrap-A-Loc Tool
- Amazing curls
- Long lasting
- Easy to remove
- Easy to sleep on
- Only come in packs of 20
- Length dependent
I only used water to set my locs on the Wrap-A-Loc tool and then I applied a few drops of Almond Oil on my hands when I took them out to prevent too much frizz. I love the curls that the Wrap-A-Loc rollers create and I will definitely be adding this to my styling arsenal! My only issue is that I don’t have more, lol!
